Back to the Catch Up

So the last catch up post was Rock 'n Roll Baby. The next day I had a shoot with a cool band called Tilt. They wanted some promo shots and had secured a kick ass old plantation in Fredericksburg. I had rented a fish eye lens and a lens baby to play with for this shoot and I'm hooked, on both.

This shoot was really fun, because, in case you didn't know, those cool rock and roll guys out there are really goofy. I should know, my hubby is one of them. And I love the whole rock genre of photography. So what a great opportunity for me! Next up for band promo shots will be hubby's band, Hot Buttered Elvis. We're still trying to schedule that but have some great ideas. With a name like Hot Buttered Elvis, you can only imagine what we'll come up with!

But now ... Tilt.

Cat Pics!

Since I realized yesterday that it had been awhile since I posted some cat pics here's a bunch taken over the last few weeks. Again, lovin' the iPhone! Especially for taking photos of the cats. In trying to get photos of them with the "big camera," the minute they see it, they stop being cute or doing whatever they were doing that prompted me to get the camera in the first place. Now, with the iPhone they have no clue what's going on. Guess they figure I'm just getting on the phone and they can continue with their cuteness since no one is paying attention. Ha, ha kitties ... I gotcha!

First up, Lenny Boy,
the Fella, Le Douche, Stink, Booger Face ... yes those are all his nicknames. And yes, they ALL apply.

Before the iPhone, he would have heard me take the lens cap off the dslr and would have stopped the cuteness. This time he didn't even know I was taking his photo.

Here's Le Douche coveting Tiki's food. You know, because I don't ever feed him. EVER!

Here's the Fella up close and personal.

And now Tiki Baby, Old Girl. She's 17 1/2 and pulls the geriatric card on us/me pretty much all the time. Especially when it comes to lap time. You can't deny a geriatric cat!

Here we have Lenny and Lucy helping Shawn change strings on his guitar. I was sitting on the chaise lounge across from him with guess who on my lap:)

And finally Lucy, Poohead, La Douchess (because she has learned douche like behavior from Le Douche). Again, I was sitting on the chaise lounge with Tiki on my lap and Lucy was up on the arm of the chaise. There's something about these that I just love.

So a good fix for anyone jonesing to see cat pics.

Random Stuff from the Last Week or So

In between photo shoot catch ups, I'll be posting some random stuff that I've been present with:)

Starting with River Farm. We had a kick ass warm day here on Monday and I really wanted to get outside. But the thought of sitting outside the office building breathing in the smoke from the smokers lounge and listening to the banging of construction on 495 simply wasn't doing it for me. So I decided to head over to River Farm. It's off the GW Parkway about 15 minutes from my office and talk about beautiful, peaceful and quiet. I'll be spending more time exploring there this Spring.

Then we have the first day of sandals!! Freshly polished toe nails and platform wedge sandals. It's gotta be at least 70 degrees out before I can wear sandals. If not, I'll be cold all day. More on shoes, sandals and their hotness to come.

A random Lucy shot just because I haven't posted any cat shots in a LONG time. More of those to come.

And finally last Friday evening's drink of choice. I learned that evening that drinking and texting don't go. In trying to text a friend my not drunk, but feeling good fingers just weren't on top of their game. And neither were my eyes! It was pretty damn funny. All photos from the iPhone which I'm like how did I EVER live without this????

Rock and Roll Baby!

Here are some shots from a Hot Buttered Elvis gig on March 4. This was a big deal as it was HBE's first official show back with hubby! And their new guitar player JC. While Shawn played a few gigs in the wheelchair last year and actually did one set standing at Halloween, this was the real deal. He even struck some rock poses! And they had Agent I open up. I rarely shoot with a flash at gigs as I don't want all the wires and cords and crap in the background to show. But then I have to shoot at a pretty high ISO which leaves the photos sometimes too grainy. BUT ... I think that grain adds to the grit that rock and roll can be. And, I rented a fish-eye lens and a lens baby composer to play with for another shoot. But got to use them here. Fun, fun, fun!

Another Shoot from February!

This lovely lady needed some headshots for her website and various businesses. She also just wanted to have fun. And fun we had! There were outfit changes and different locales around Old Town. We both had a great time.
