The Zen Shelf

Wow ... it's been awhile. I have lots to share and will start with the new Zen Shelf and my attempts at photos that you might see in Body & Soul, Real Simple or something like that.

With Spring flowers everywhere, I had the idea to make little arrangements, on the simple and zen side. I gathered various small bottles and jars for vases and this is what came of it.

The shelf has it's own story. Last Fall, Shawn built the shelf and let's just say I didn't really know about it. I wasn't pleased and was vehemently poo-pooing the shelf.

Well, that shelf has become the new Zen shelf. Now that it could be taken down for the summer, I can't take it down. And I'm woman enough to admit that I was wrong about the shelf. And that if I had simply embraced it in the first place and put my ego and attachments to the side, I would have saved myself a lot of upset. Funny how a shelf can teach you an important lesson.

Archway of Grace

The Archway of Grace.

This climbing rosebush is simply magnificent. I don't remember exactly when we got this rosebush. It might have been a birthday present for me and my guess would be that it's been here for about 7 to 8 years, maybe a little less. At some point when it started climbing Shawn had the idea for it to span the gateway to our backyard. Well, here we are, this year, and I just can't get enough photos of this amazing beauty.

Rebirthday

Today is my husband Shawn's Rebirthday. This is the first day of a new year of life for him and is significant on so many levels. He's been to hell and back and now he's back baby! (as George Costanza would say)

It's a rebirth for both of us and our relationship together. There's been some struggles and challenges but each one has been a teacher, leading to less struggles and challenges every day. Each day is better than the previous.

So, Happy Birthday Baby. This next year will be amazing, there's no doubt. I love you more than ever.
